Social media is like open season when it comes to opinions.
No longer are the times when fans wrote letters to their favorite artist
or directors about what they don't like about their favorite tv shows.
Now people can go DIRECTLY to the source with sites like Twitter
and Facebook. The ministers aren't off limits either. Take the 'Preachers of L.A.'
for example. Since it's first season premiere on Oxygen, the preachers have been
recieving tons of criticism.
I think it also helped us as we move forward with Season 2," said Deitrick Haddon. Because you could see what the public is saying right then and right there. I would watch it. I love following Twitterduring the show, because people have no filter. They say whatever's on their heart about how you look, what was just said… and the things they didn't like."

Season 2 of Preachers of L.A airs every Wednesday on Oxygen.
Erica Campbell surprised the crowd at Rumsey Playfield in New York City with a performance Sunday night for the 6th Annual R&B Fest presented by SummerStage. Campbell took the stage after Jon B and before Musiq Soulchild, who was the headliner.
Campbell performed her solo hit "Help" off of her debut solo album.Though this was an event that featured secular artists,
Campbell brought a little Jesus and church to the event, which was appreciated by many in
attendance from the thunderous applause she received.

Another suprise was former Blackstreet member Dave Hollister. Now on his solo artist flow
also took the crowd to church, giving a testimonial that reflected the power of God in his life.
"I was addicted to cocaine but I have been clean for 10 years, " Hollister said.
He who also admitted to abusing alcohol in his past, said he couldn't leave the stage without
testifying what the Lord has done for him.
It may have been R&B Fest, but it was a Sunday, and Erica Campbell and Dave Hollister made sure
that the crowd was able to get their Sunday praise in.
We would like to congratulate these young men for their hard work and dedication.
With so much negative news going on the US news, these boys
brought back hope to the community. Especially the black ones.

The Chicago Defender was founded by Robert Sengstacke Abbott on May 5, 1905. His plan was to use
this newspaper to address African American issues. In 1921, Mr. Abbott started the Chicago Defender Jr., a section for
children in the newspaper. It was edited by the young Robert Watkins, who was known as Bud Billiken ®, and included an
application to the Bud Billiken ® Club; named after the Billiken -- the guardian angel of little children according to Chinese
legend. Working under Mr. Abbott, David Kellum was a key member of the Bud Billiken ® team and was often called Mr. Bud Billiken ®.
The South Shore Drill Team performs during the Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic on Saturday
Abbott decided to add the concept of a parade and the first Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic was held August 11, 1929.
The purpose was to provide underpriveled youth with the chance to be in the linelight. The parade route ran from 31st and Michigan Boulevard to Washington Park. In the mid-30's the city rerouted the parade to South Parkway
because its Michigan route tied up traffic as it went east into Washington Park. Around 1947, it was rerouted back to
Michigan due to street repairs on South Parkway. After the street repairs the Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic returned to
South Parkway and has remained there ever since. South Parkway, now named Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, runs
through the African American community on the City's Southside.
