Community News: Help Raise Funds for Victims of Violence
Every year as the seasons change and the weather begins to warm
there is always this fear in the air of what will happen to our youth.
In an effort to bring assistance to the families in the city of Chicago who have had children
and loved ones killed due to senseless acts of gang violence, a new compilation album entitled
INNER CITY DREAMS is being released which will raise funds to pay for the burial &
funeral services for the victims and to assist the families with the staggering hospital costs that they
are encountering in the aftermath of such violence.
Entertainment industry executive, Stan Sheppard, has joined with the nationally known civil
rights activist/priest Father Michael Pfleger and the South Side of Chicago based organization known
as “Purpose Over Pain” to work directly with the families in Chicago in their time of need by
supplying the funding that is needed to bury their children and loved ones in a timely
manner and with dignity.
“Purpose Over Pain” is an organization comprised of “parents who have lost children to gang violence” and this organization was chosen by Father Pfleger to be the recipient of the funds raised by the sale of the album. The album will feature both Rap & R&B Music from Platinum recording artists and developing stars from Chicago and from all different parts of the U.S.
The first video being released from the project is from the Milwaukee based Rap artist known as
Quintes Austin and the song is entitled “Life Is Hard.” Watch:
Quintes Austin first rose to prominence last year when his hit single “Can’t Keep Runnin Away”
was championed by BET TV, BET NEWS, EBONY MAGAZINE and BILLBOARD MAGAZINE just to name a few.
The song dealt with the subject of “Bullying” and was an instant hit on YOUTUBE and with young people all
across the country. The Chicago album project “INNER CITY DREAMS” is scheduled to be completed and
released in late summer/early fall 2014.
